Conversation Between David Sibley and Jennifer Ackerman

Lewes Loves Books Presents a Conversation with David Sibley and Jennifer Ackerman
Tuesday, August 4 | 5:00 PM
Curious about the birds outside your window or in your backyard? Join renowned illustrator and ornithologist David Allen Sibley and bestselling author Jennifer Ackerman for a live, interactive presentation on birds—big and small, familiar and not—and discover how their lives intersect with our own. Sibley and Ackerman will discuss everything you ever wanted to know about birds—from flying to nesting to singing and more—as well as the magic involved in coming to identify them and learn about their behavior.

David Allen Sibley has been painting birds for over three decades. He is widely recognized as America’s leading ornithologist/illustrator. Used by millions of birders from novices to the most expert, The Sibley Guide is now the standard by which most natural history guides are measured. His latest book, What It’s Like to Be A Bird: From Flying to Nesting, Eating to Singing, is the perfect bird book for birders and nonbirders alike looking for a new or deeper understanding of what common, mostly backyard, birds are doing and why.

Jennifer Ackerman has been writing about science, nature, and human biology for almost three decades. She is a contributor to Scientific American, National Geographic, and The New York Times among others, and her books include The Genius of Birds and Birds by the Shore. Her new book The Bird Way: A New Look at How Birds Talk, Work, Play, Parent and Think is a radical investigation into the bird way of being and the recent scientific research that is dramatically shifting our understanding of how birds live and think.
