Lewes Loves Books is proud to host Jennifer Ackerman, highly acclaimed author of The Genius of Birds and Birds by the Shore to the Lewes area. Previously released as Notes from the Shore, Birds by the Shore is a book of essays about Ms. Ackerman’s two years in Lewes, where she developed a reverence for nature – its rhythms, its creatures, and their habitats. An exploration of the natural life of the mid-Atlantic coast, this book takes the reader on a journey to the ocean’s edge, to view the habits of shorebirds, the movement of sand and tides, the wealth of creatures that survive amid storm and surf.
Ms. Ackerman will do a live, interactive presentation via Zoom on Birds by the Shore and The Genius of Birds, in addition to touching on her latest book, The Bird Way: A New Look at How Birds Talk, Work, Play, Parent, and Think.
We invite you to support the author by purchasing a copy of her book from one of our local independent bookstores, Browseabout Books and biblion. Call-in orders are accepted at Browseabout (302-226-2665) and biblion (302-644-2210) or you can stop by the store to purchase a copy. For store hours, please visit the websites.
